How do I make or renew my annual gift?


There are many different ways you can make your annual gift to HUMAA.

If I have a question about my giving history, whom should I contact?


You can always reach out to the HUMAA office with questions about your giving history. We can be reached by phone at 202-803-2989, by email at director@humaa.org. If you contact us via telephone and need to leave a message, please leave us a detailed message and we will respond as soon as possible with the information.




I need a copy of my gift receipt for taxes. Whom should I contact to have a copy sent to me?


You can always reach out to the HUMAA office. For gift receipts for 2020, you will receive a gift receipt by mid-January.
Beginning in 2021, online donors will immediately receive a tax-donation receipt upon receipt. Donations received via mail, or via telephone, will receive a gift receipt within five (5) business days.

If you contact us via telephone and need to leave a message, please leave us a detailed message and we will respond as soon as possible with the information.




How do I set up a recurring gift on my credit card?


You can set up a monthly gift online here.




How do I change my credit card information if I have set up a recurring gift?


There are two steps.

Step 1: Please contact the office so we can stop your recurring gift. You can call us at 202-803-2989 or send an email to info@humaa.org.
Step 2: You will need to make a new donation online here. Please know we do not save your credit card information. If you contact us via telephone and need to leave a message, please leave us a detailed message and we will respond as soon as possible with the information.




How can I give securities or stocks?


HUMAA gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value allow you to avoid capital gains taxes while also receiving a tax deduction for your gifHUMAA) benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to donate in cash. You can specify which area of HUMAA you would like the proceeds to support, or have them contributed to the annual fund. Stock that is donated is immediately converted to cash.
Please telephone, or have your financial advisor call us immediately after the gift is made to our investment firm so that we can immediately provide you an acknowledgment letter, which will include the value. What is the 1871 Club?


WHAT IS THE 1871 CLUB? The 1871 Club is HUMAA's monthly giving society. The name of the society reflects the year in which the organization was founded. HOW DOES IT WORK? To sign up, you will select a dollar amount to donate to HUMAA on a monthly basis. You will choose the day of the month that you would like your donation to be processed monthly, and enter your credit card and banking info. Once that information is entered, HUMAA will automatically process your donation every month. Monthly donation amounts begin at $18.71. HOW WILL MY DONATION BE USED? Your donation will serve to support HUMAA's programs year-round. One month, your donation may help to fund a scholarship for an exceptional medical student. Another month, your donation might be used to help welcome first-year medical students at our Freshman Fish Fry. Other ways your gift could be used include sponsoring a long white coat for a graduating student, and even directly sponsoring student group programs and activities. Alternatively, you have the option to designate your monthly donations for our general scholarship fund or any specific scholarship.




Has my mailed check been received?


Please note due to the pandemic, postal mail is being processed slower than usual.
If you wish confirmation of your mailed check, we ask you to send it with USPS tracking delivery options so you may confirm delivery.
